For our Tuesday session, please do the following:
- send me your Teilleistung consent form, if you haven't done so already.
- read the NY Times article posted on Ilias under the file name "Crocs" and identify 1) what the secrets to the company's current success is, 2) predict whether Crocs will have the same success in India and other Southeast Asian countries that it has had in the US (be specific about your reasoning here), and 3) make sure you know what the terms operating margin and diversification mean.
- watch this "The Economics of Crocs" video from the Wall Street Journal after reading the article above: Crocs: How the Polarizing Footwear Brand Became a Fashion Statement | The Economics Of | WSJ - YouTube The general tone of both the NY Times article and the WSJ video is positive. If you were creating a SWOT analysis of Crocs, what would you feature in the Weaknesses and Threats quadrants (i.e. where are potential blind spots)? Jot down at least one bullet point for each.
- watch a second Wall Street Journal "The Economics of ..." video of your choice from this playlight and jot down at least one key takeaway from the video's analysis: The Economics Of | WSJ - YouTube
- consult a second source connected to what you think might/will pursue for your first Teilleistung. (Again, this doesn't have to be a source that will ultimately make it into your works cited/bibliography page, but it needs to be something that will at least help you narrow down what your business/application will address/the need(s) it will meet.)
