Kulturraumstudien USA, Homework for December 3rd

For homework, please make sure that you are familiar with US geography. You don't have to memorize all 50 states by next week, but I would like you to know them by the end of the academic year/course. Reflect on why you know the states that are easy to identify and why others are more difficult.

Next week we'll be talking about the US South. How do we define the South? Which states are definitely Southern states, which ones are "borderline" and which ones definitely don't count? What are you basing your boundaries on?

Please bring your notes from the NY Times article and The Atlantic article with you to class; I'd like to go over your responses in our next session.

If you were one of the top five winners from today, please let me know via email which prize you've selected.

Finally, if you are an Erasmus student who is here for only this semester, please send me an email with your full name so that we can plan your exam.

Kulturraumstudien USA, Homework for November 26th

In anticipation of our next class, please bring in notes concerning the discourse present in the "Becoming a Steelworker Liberated Her" a) from the perspective of a NY Times Journalist and b) from the perspective of Shannon. What I'm looking for here is, for example, the language "becoming a steelworker liberated her" on the part of the journalist (i.e. women's liberation discourse) and the language "God would want you to share" on the behalf of Shannon in employing religious language for discussing resources.

Please also read the following article and decide for yourself whether you find this analysis convincing: https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/11/2020-presidential-race-trump-starts-favorite/575344/

Name the cowboy and his context and the roles he played in the neighboring country's history and US history. Vortrags- und Präsentationstechniken, Hausaufgaben für den 9. November 2018

Was ist Veganismus?
