For homework, please make notes to the remaining questions from the exam I distributed (the ones we didn't discuss in today's session). In addition, please do some research on the death penalty (capital punishment) in the US. Develop five research questions to investigate and write down your answers, citing where you obtained your data from (questions might include "Which states allow the death penalty?" "Is the number of executions rising or falling?" "Which crimes can receive a death sentence?").

- write 10 sentences in direct speech and transfer them into indirect speech
- write 10 sentences featuring collocations from chapter 26 and/or the handout from today's session
- 250-word essay prompt: Do we have too much leisure time these days?

Widen = concrete things that can expand (roads, waistlines)
broaden = more metaphorical things (horizons)

irreparable damage can be done to something (like the brain) after a stroke, but the word must always be used in conjunction with "damage"
